Many great points have been made on other great photoblogs about the act of using Photoshop for post-processing your photos. As a professional graphic artist, I agree with Sam of Daily Dose of Imagery and David of Chromasia - to truly produce what you saw with your own eyes, from any camera, you need to do some form of tweaking. I decided to do a before an after today because when I looked at this photo from this past summer's trip home I thought that it lacked some of the true beauty of the actual scene.

Yes, while it was a cloudy day, I don't remember it being so gray and dreary. So after a little increase of saturation and some playing with the levels and curves (all using adjustment layers of course)... voila.
